Dynamics and Stability of Hydraulic Structures

Students obtain knowledge on: free and forced vibrations of single degree of freedom (SDOF) systems; plane-stress and plane-strain state; finite elements method in Structural Dynamics; approximation of displacements; form functions; equivalent nodal forces; inertia forces; mass- and stiffness matrices; fluid-structure interaction; added mass; modal analysis; seismic excitation; determination of seismic loads through modal analysis and response spectrum method; seismic loads according to the seismic building codes.
