Applied Rock Mechanics and Underground Hydraulic Engineering
Faculty Faculty of Hydraulic Engineering
Department Hydraulic, Irrigation and Drainage Engineering
Lead Lecturer Assoc. Prof. Dr. Eng. Victor Tashev

In the first part the fundamentals of applied rock mechanics are given – significance, objective and content of the geological and hydrogeological explorations. The existing rock mass classification systems for rock mass evaluation are discussed from a view point of underground construction. There is considered the influence of various structural discontinuities on the behaviour of the underground structures and the constructional methods. In the second part there are considered the technology, mechanization and organization of the constructional processes, specific to the underground hydraulic structures. Special attention is paid to the constructional requirements, hydraulic and static design of various types of initial and final linings as well as some specific problems of monitoring. I
