All programmes of the Faculty of Hydrotechnics have been accredited by the European Association of Engineers (FEANI) and graduates can obtain the degree “Euro-engineer”.

For Hydraulic Engineering in German, the length of study is 11 semesters, the last one being used for development and presentation of a diploma project. 

Students of Hydraulic Engineering in German have 71 courses with a total of over 4500 academic hours and participate also in practical and field training for a total of over 400 hours.

According to the agreement signed with TU Vienna, graduates of this programme obtain an original Austrian diploma for the Austrian degree "Diplom Ingeneur” in addition to the Bulgarian educational and qualification degree “Master-Engineer”.

Training is provided in German by lecturers of UACEG, TU Sofia (the German Faculty) and TU Vienna, and is based on Austrian textbooks and text-books by Bulgarian authors.For some courses, individual consultations in a foreign language are possible (see course annotations). 

After the successful completion of the 4th semester students are given the opportunity to conduct summer and pre-diploma field training, as well as to continue their education for a semester or to develop their diploma projects in TU Vienna (within the framework of international and intergovernmental programmes in education). 

Academic calendar
The exact academic calendar is determined each year by the Academic Council of the University.

The academic year consists of two semesters, each one of 15 weeks: autumn semester (from October to January) and spring semester (from February to June).
One regular and one supplementary examination session as well as project presentations follow the autumn semester.
The summer semester has one regular examination session, project defences, followed by field practices outside the University (in June and July).
The annual supplementary examination session is in September.
