Building Insulations
Students study the methods of design and execution of the main insulations systems of buildings and facilities: waterpoofing, thermal insulation, noise insulation, fire protection and corrosion protection. The module of waterpoofing is related to flat roofs, underground parts and some special facilities such as reservoirs, bridges, etc. The module of thermal insulation is related to the thermal and moisture comfort and energy savings in both winter and summer periods. The module of corrosion is ...
Building Insulations - Project Assignment
This project is aimed to develop practical skills in students in waterproofing, thermal insulation and anti-corrosion protection of buildings and structures. The waterproofing part of the project comprises roof and underground waterproofing; the thermal insulation part – design of energy-efficient thermal insulation of a building; and the anti-corrosion part – design of corrosion-resistant structure.
Building Materials
Major: Architecture
“Building materials” is a fundamental engineering and architecture discipline, which lays the foundation for the specializing disciplines. It provides the necessary knowledge for solving the issues about the rational choice of materials in accordance with the aesthetic, structural and operational requirements to structures and facilities. The aim of the methodical training is to develop in future specialists aspiration after independent summarizing of information and to form a creative ...
Building Materials
This is a general engineering subject introducing students to the composition, structure and properties of building materials and their application fields. They obtain knowledge on the selection of the most appropriate materials, quality control on the materials used, obtaining materials meeting pre-set criteria, revealing trends for creation and application of highly efficient materials, etc. The knowledge obtained is directly connected to the specialist- and profiling disciplines.
Building Materials
Major:
Students are acquainted with the composition, structure, physical and mechanical properties and rational fields of application of building materials. Methods of composite materials mix design, like concrete, polymer-concrete and mortars are considered as well as standard methods for testing and assessment of constructive/technical features of building materials and products. Special emphasis is put on the materials for waterproof-, thermal-, noise- and anti-corrosion insulations of buildings ...

Building Materials and Insulations
The course provides up-to-date knowledge in the field of building materials and insulations (waterproofing, thermal, noise, anticorrosive and fire-resistant). The constructive and technical properties of the various construction materials used in buildings and structures are examined as well as their fields of application. Students will be acquainted with the design and application of modern insulations in buildings and structures.
Durability of Buildings Materials
Students learn the factors affecting the durability of building materials as well as the methods for improvement of physical and mechanical properties of materials and increasing their serviceability and durability. After finishing the course students are capable to assess and forecast the durability of the building materials used in buildings and structures depending on operational and weather conditions.
Durability of Buildings Materials
The design of buildings and structures in most cases does not take into account the changes of the properties of materials over time under the influence of the environment. Therefore, the service life of the buildings and structures becomes shorter and the costs for capital repairs rise. The main purpose of this subject is to acquaint students with the changes in the physical and mechanical properties of the building materials caused by weather conditions and maintenance factors. Besides, they ...
Modern Building Products and Systems for Rehabilitation of Waterproofing and Thermal Insulation
This subject provides the necessary knowledge on the ways of assessment of the condition of waterproofing and thermal insulation of buildings and structures, as well as on the modern building products and their rehabilitation. Training should lead to independent solving of issues like selection, design and execution of durable enough waterproofing and thermal insulations, and to allow independent scientific or teaching activities in this field. The subject considers mainly physical and ...
New Regulations for Design and Execution of Buildings and Structures Reconstruction
This discipline allows students learning about reconstruction and modernization of buildings and structures to get acquainted with the harmonized Eurocodes related to the main products used thereof – mineral binding substances, concretes, waterproofing-, thermal insulation-, and noise insulation products. The subject provides general information for the Eurocodes for structural design of buildings and structures, based on reinforced concrete- and steel bearing structures as well as on the ...
Special Composite Materials
The course deals with the production, properties and application areas of polymer-modified traditional materials (concrete, rock, fibre-reinforced, waterproof, and geo-synthetic materials). The application of the solidity of concrete and RC structures is considered too. After finishing the course students are capable to select contemporary composite materials having relevant properties and performance.
Special Composite Materials for Reconstruction and Modernization of Buildings and Structures
This subject helps students interested in the problems of reconstruction and modernization of buildings and structures to get acquainted with contemporary composite materials with better parameters and performance. The following aspects of the composite materials are considered: technical specifications, production and application of the materials obtained through polymer-modification of the traditional materials (polymer-concrete, polymer-cement concrete, concrete-polymers, polymer-silica ...
