The lecture course is structured in three parts: 1. Historical and theoretical aspects – tracing back the development of sociology as a science about society and its sociological structure. 2. Theoretical and methodological aspects – presents urban sociology as natural relationships between the elements of the main spheres of human activity: occupation, services, labour, recreation and communication. 3. Methodological and practical aspects – discusses the application of ESI (empirical sociological investigation) in architectural design, as well as the role of the architect in social communication. The lecture course finishes with summarizing the most important and characteristic accents in urban sociology.
