This taught course follows the main directions in the development of the European philosophic ideas over time. The basic cognitive notions created by the ancient philosophy are presented, their evolution and transformation during the Middle Ages and the Modern Times being traced. The relations and parallels between the individual ideological trends are exposed, as well as the succession, the relations of continuity and discontinuity in the mental tradition – all that creates the base of the European cultural model and is identified as “western type of thinking”.
