This project illustrates the foundation design of road or railroad bridge. It includes the calculation of an abutment as a flat foundation, and of middle pier as deeply set foundation (pile foundation). The calculation is detailed, according to the requirements of the codes and the theoretical material studied in the subjects Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering. In addition to the flat foundation, strengthening of the construction pit is designed, using a sheet pile in two options – cantilever and propped (anchored).
